The government launching the Dot Bharat country code top-level domain in Indian’s eight languages.

This is for non-English speaking part of the population type URLs in the script they understand. Technically Dot Bharat is the English version of Dot IN , we can say.

Websites is also called as the IDNs for Internationalized Domain Names. Inclusive growth of the Internet is must via this. Dot Bharat launch by the government in the Devanagari script encompasses Konkani, Hindi, Marathi and five other languages with it.


Ravi Shankar Prasad(Communications and IT Minister ) has disclosed that the venture will continue, All Indian languages expected to be added to the roster in the future, reports The Economic Times. IDNs(Internationalized Domain Names) in Bangla, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu will be delivered by NIXI.

The Indian government is working on connecting the whole nation through wireless broadband networks. It has set aside Rs 20000 crore to bring mobile connectivity to 55000 villages in India over the next five years. The National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) project estimated cost is Rs 35000 crore. The aim is to provide grant high speed Internet access to 2.50 lakh grampanchayats by March 2017. 60000 villages are going to welcome broadband support in year 2014. The years 2015 and 2016 are each anticipated in web connectivity for 1 lakh rural areas. The government is looking for NOFN to bring about an e-commerce revolution in the whole country.
